The upside is speed of assembly: homepage blocks, promo sections, lookbook-style layouts, and shop pages are usually handled in Elementor, while WooCommerce still drives the real commerce logic underneath.
What’s really happening under the hood
Most visual stuff is editable in Elementor and the theme panel/Customizer. Store-wide options live in wp_options; page layouts, sections, and demo content sit in wp_posts + postmeta. Elementor’s generated CSS ends up in /uploads/elementor/css/, so stale cache there can fake “broken layout” bugs.
Woo templates are overridden by the parent theme’s /woocommerce/ files. That means archive and single-product markup can differ from stock Woo. If I need safe edits, I do them in a child theme, not in the parent, because zip updates will wipe direct PHP changes.
