I use Easy Passthrough of addon when one Gravity Form has to feed another without exposing raw values on the front. Lead funnels, quote flows, gated downloads, multi-step intake — that’s the job it solves well.
What I like here is the mechanics: it stays inside Gravity Forms instead of bolting on a separate UI. In adminka, you’re mostly working with the form settings, confirmations, redirects, and field mapping logic you already know. No extra template layer to babysit.
What it’s doing under the hood
There are no real frontend templates to override. The plugin rides on Gravity Forms hooks and form rendering, so most of the editable part lives in the GF form config, not in PHP files. Source entries still live in the usual Gravity Forms tables; passthrough settings are stored with form meta.
On the front, it’s light. Usually no heavy asset load, no external apishka, no weird cache-busting script train. That’s good for performance, but it also means failures are usually about redirects, query args, or cached HTML — not the plugin “being slow”.

The most common failure: values pass fine for me, then disappear for logged-out users. Root cause is page cache or CDN caching the target form page before the passthrough token/query arg is resolved. Fast fix: exclude that URL in WP Rocket / LiteSpeed Cache, or render the form via AJAX.
Second break: submit redirect works, but the target URL loses the token on the way. Usually a redirect plugin, security layer, or Cloudflare rule strips query args. In DevTools > Network, check the 302 chain after submit and confirm the final URL still carries the passthrough parameter. In Console, JS errors before gform_post_render often mean delayed jquery-core or broken gravityforms.min.js / conditional_logic.min.js.
